- The Fourth Degree is the highest degree within the Knights of Columbus. Its primary purpose is to foster patriotism by promoting responsible citizenship, love,and loyalty to our country.
- Acts of the Apostle Assembly participates in various patriotic activities, such as the Fourth of July Parade. They also provide honor guards for the church dignitaries and to parishes for special Masses and ceremonies. Find out more information at
http://acts2411.org. - In parades and honor guards, Fourth Degree members wear special regalia that include a cape, chapeau, sword and tuxedo. The ceremonial sword worn by Fourth Degree Knights signifies Christian Knighthood and symbolizes defense of Church, country and freedon. The sword is also worn to show reverence for the Eucharist and respect for the clergy.
- Fourth Degree assemblies also sponsor programs that promote respect, knowledge and protection for the flag and often present flags to local churches, schools and libraries. They also promote programs that encourage love of country and support the application of Christian principles at all levels of government.
